Suvarnabhumi Airport

Bangkok’s International Airport is known as Bangkok International Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK). The airport is located in Bang Phi, Samutprakarn which is approximately 25 kilometers from downtown Bangkok. The name “Suvarnabhumi” means Golden Land, and was given by King Bhumibol Adulyadej. Suvarnabhumi Airport has a single passenger terminal, serving both domestic and international passengers. The airport currently has 2 runways and 52 taxiways. Free WiFi is available throughout the airport, both hold rooms, and busgate areas. Transfer lounges are provided connecting passengers. These lounges are located on the third floor of concourses B and D. Here, passengers can relax while waiting to board. The airport provides a VAT Refund service for passengers, located on the 4th Floor at Gate 10, as well as booths on the east and west side of the passenger terminal. For those passengers wishing to apply for a Visa on Arrival, visa counters are conveniently located before the immigration areas. There are a variety of restaurants to serve passengers, which are open 24 hours a day, and include internet access. There are 3 banks that operate in the airport, providing numerous ATM and current exchange booth options for passengers.

Don Mueang Airport

Don Mueang Airport (DMK) is another international airport in Thailand. The airport was opened in March 1914, but closed in 2006 when the new Suvarnabhumi Airport was operational. Don Mueang Airport reopened in March 2007 after extensive renovations, and became the world’s largest low cost carrier airport. This airport is located 24 kilometers north of downtown Bangkok, making it easily accessible from the city centre. Don Mueang Airport has two runways and two terminals. Terminal 1 is used for all international flights including Air Asia, while Terminal 2 is dedicated to domestic flights. There are 2 banks available in the airport, both in the arrival and departure halls of the main terminal, and operate 24 hours a day. There is a variety of restaurants to serve customers, located within the terminal complex. Free Wi-Fi internet access is provided within the airport.
